I did a few a while back in Carrara and C4d 8.1 which I still have using their render engines and HDR maps... quite a difference.
You can get some great results too in Bryce but often this results in longer render times... Bryce does not qork so wekk with luminosity and transparency.
I did a piece a couple of weeks back called Citadel in which I took an abstract object created in C4d into Bryce and gave it a reflective glass material... Took 4 days to render at 2000 px a 1500 px roughlt
However to get that koind of mesh texturing that resulted in the final piece I doubt any other render engine I know would have brought it uo like this... it worked and saved me a lot of work in PS. It was my intention to paint holes in the mesh originally...
Bryce is very much a toy but it has some terrific quirks in how it handles certain types of lighting and materials...
Hope they will make a V7 of it and include viewports and a few other 3d essentials. I hate the poser environment abd the fiddly manner of switching views when essentially you need to see what is happening in ither views when working on the fly!
Gonna be looking out for these. Someone said that Max doesn't do booles too well... I dont know much about Max since version 4 or so but I believe in recent versions they have super boole capability in which you can do some really cool stuff like holey swiss cheeze you ought to check it out and run them through MR!!!
I definitely meant to go back and re-do this one in max and MR....just never seem to get to it!!! Bryce does have some seriously long render times especially with reflective materials. I didn't spend too much time with Bryce before switching over to max....I had dabble with it a few years ago and decided to get back into it....
You ought to stick with Max and learn it well... very powerful program... I would love to have it and an architectural background.. I have seen stuff that would totally blow you away when it comes to futuristic architectural renders done by architects...
I like C4d too for that kind of work.. Maya though I reckon is still king of the hill and want to get back into it. I must try scout some training here and continue my course... I did a basic animation course but I really suck as an animator... It has some tools that max has not got and Max some that Maya hasn't... but I still believe Maya is the best when it comes to animation or maybe cinema...
Keep going with it... looking forward to seeing what you turn out....
