I like this new direction, the different objects and textures make the scene more interesting - more of a scene than a technical exercise, if you know what I mean. I particularly like the uneven yet shiny texture of the (wooden?) base that the objects are sitting on.
My only observation for possible improvement is that the light source within the lamps seems too even and diffuse - real lights tend to have bulbs inside them so I think a suggestion of a brighter area, perhaps at the base of the lampshades would make the the scene a little more convincing for me. It's a very minor consideration, though. On the whole I like the mellow light and relaxed, homely atmosphere this image conveys.
thanks so much for the very detailed comment!! I agree with you....I struggled with the lights in the lamps and this is not exactly the way it should look...I think it is just my lack of tech. skills with 3ds max...I will definitely work on it and post an update!
Yes, I appreciate you are still learning and that this sort of thing is at a level of subtlety you have yet to master... but I'm confident you will crack problems like this in time, you have already come so far with your 3D skills and I for one have enjoyed following your progress and development so far. Keep up the good work, friend!
Believe me, if I thought you were at all the oh-so-sensitive, drama queen type (aged about 15) who throws a tantrum at any comment other than "fabulous!" I wouldn't have offered any opinion at all. I know you're happy to receive more detailed comments/critique and find it helpful.
